Stand still and see the salvation of the Lord. Exodus 14:13

This verse was spoken by the Lord to the Nation of Israel when their backs were against the Red Sea and their enemies were closing in on them. At that moment the command to "stand still" seemed unthinkable. Yet the Lord had a plan. In fact it was a miracle that He alone was about to perform. The Red Sea was to be parted and they were to be delivered.
It is certainly easier to read this verse then live it. Remaining still seems so idle. At times we feel that the best thing we can do is keep moving, or at least do something. However there are times when the better thing to do is to wait on the Lord. You have done everything that you can do. You have exhausted every resource you can think of. You have left no stone unturned. You have asked, sought, knocked on every door presented. You have sought the Lord earnestly in prayer. You have studied His Word carefully for direction. There is nothing else you can do except to stand fast in the power of the Holy Spirit and trust God to do what you can't do. So often it comes down to a matter of trust. In the waiting God is working...... stand still....
