Then He came to Simon Peter. And Peter said to Him, “Lord, are You washing my feet?” Jesus answered and said to him, “What I am doing you do not understand now, but you will know after this.” (John 13:6, 7 NKJV)
Have you ever questioned what God is doing in your life? Have you ever wondered what is the purpose of this? Or perhaps like the apostle Peter you resisted the work The Lord was wanting to do. At the last supper Jesus got up from the table and began to wash the disciples feet. When He came to Peter, Peter immediately resisted. He did not understand what The Lord was doing, and so He questioned it. Yet even when Jesus spoke to him about what He was doing, Peter then resisted it.
We often do the same thing. The Lord begins to do something in our lives that has not happened before. Perhaps it is something unfamiliar, or even uncomfortable. Or He allows a trial to come our way that is painful. We then begin to lean on our own understanding, even though we don't understand and then we begin to resist. I love the words that Jesus spoke to Peter. " what I am doing NOW you do not understand, but you WILL know after this. In other words, even though you don't understand your going to have to trust me. There maybe things The Lord is doing in your life in this season that you cannot comprehend. It's okay, The Lord is teaching you to trust. Do not lean on your own understanding lean on Him. It will make sense later on.
