- Of the blue, purple, and scarlet thread they made garments of ministry, for ministering in the holy place, and made the holy garments for Aaron, as the Lord had commanded Moses. (Exodus 39:1 NKJV)
The clothing of the priest who served the Lord were called garments of ministry. The Bible uses garments in other parts of scripture as examples of things we put on. We read of the "garments of praise" in Isaiah 61. The apostle Peter exhorted the believers when he said "let all of you be clothed with humility." The apostle Paul knew that we are engaged in a spiritual war and thus he wrote that we need to,"put on the whole armor of God" Ephesians 6. In Revelation 19 we get a glimpse of the glorified church coming back with Christ in His second coming and they are clothed in, "fine linen white and clean". We are encouraged to "put on The Lord Jesus Christ and make no provision for the flesh." Romans 13.
As you enter into your day and you go out into this world, what are you going to wear? There is a proper ensemble for the child of God. May The Lord clothe us today in those garments of ministry, and spiritual armor for the battle. May we choose to lay aside the filthy rags of our own righteousness and being clothed in the righteousness of Christ.
