And the Lord visited Sarah as He had said, and the Lord did for Sarah as He had spoken. Genesis 21:1

Finally, after all those years of waiting God came through. For so long Sarah had prayed for a son. Years went by, and still she remained barren. God had made a promise to her husband Abraham that he would be the father of many nations. I imagine that there were days Sarah felt responsible for the unfulfilled promises of God. Perhaps she saw the disappointment in Abrahams eyes as the years went by, and still no fulfillment. At one point Sarah was so discouraged she tried to make the promises come to pass in her own effort, having a child by proxy. However her plans backfired horribly. Then when Abraham was almost one hundred years old,and she was passed the age of being able to bear children, the Lord reaffirms His promise. When Sarah heard the news the Bible says that she laughed. She laughed because she knew that it was physically impossible. Yet she was reminded that what is impossible with man is possible with God. Sure enough one year after the promise was reaffirmed Sarah bore a son. She called his name Isaac which means, "laughter".
Isaac arrived when every resource had been exhausted. When all hope was completely gone, when a divine miracle was the only possibility,God did what He said He would do. Perhaps you, like Sarah, have basically given up hope of seeing the promises fulfilled. Yet maybe this is the year Isaac will be born, so to speak. This is the season you have waited for. God is working. It is possible that this is the year that those prayers you prayed so long ago and forgot about, the Lord will answer. May His will be done above our own.
